In the complex tapestry of Kenyan politics, leaders who embody both competence and inclusivity are rare.

Raymond Omollo, the Principal Secretary for Interior and National Administration, is one such leader whose impact transcends his official duties.

His character, successes, and achievements make a compelling case for why every region in Kenya—and indeed, any nation—needs a man like Raymond Omollo.

One of Omollo’s most commendable traits is his commitment to inclusivity. He understands that true leadership involves bringing diverse voices to the table.

This approach has been evident in his role in the recent Cabinet reshuffle, where he influenced the inclusion of key figures from historically underrepresented regions, including Luo Nyanza.

The new Cabinet nominees from Luo Nyanza—John Mbadi and Opiyo Wandayi—are not just representatives of their tribe. They are highly qualified individuals whose expertise and experience make them ideal for their respective roles.

Omollo’s influence was pivotal in their selection, ensuring that competence was the primary criterion. He exemplifies the qualities that every region needs in a leader: integrity, inclusivity and a track record of proven success.

Dorcas Oduor: Attorney-General

Dorcas Oduor
On Tuesday, President William Ruto nominated Dorcas Oduor as the new Attorney General.

In addition to the new cabinet nominees, President William Ruto has also nominated Dorcas Oduor from Kisumu as the next Attorney-General.

She has over 30 years of experience in the legal sector and currently serves as Secretary, Public Prosecution at the office of the DPP.

Dorcas Oduor has demonstrated unimpeachable integrity and professional competence. Former president Uhuru Kenyatta conferred her with the title Senior Counsel in July 2020, along with 23 other lawyers at the time including Kalonzo Musyoka, Philip Murgor, Otiende Amollo and Martha Karua.

If approved by Parliament, she will become Kenya’s first female Attorney-General, marking a significant milestone for gender inclusivity in leadership.

Dr. Patrick Amoth: Director-General Health

A joint health committee of the National Assembly and the Senate has approved the nomination of Dr. Patrick Omwanda Amoth as Director-General for Health.

With extensive experience and having served in an acting capacity during the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Amoth has shown exemplary leadership and dedication to public health.

Moving a special Motion on the consideration on Wednesday, Endebess MP Robert Pukose, who chairs the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Health, said Amoth complied with and met all the statutory and constitutional requirements.

Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene Ntwiga praised Amoth for his patience, noting that he has served in an acting capacity for an extended period.

“I want to tell this House today and the country that we finally have a man in Dr. Amoth who will lead the Ministry of Health as the Director-General of Health, offering solid counsel and advice to the Cabinet Secretary,” said Munene.

While we may not directly attribute every appointment from Luo Nyanza to him, his influence cannot be underestimated, considering his crucial role in shaping a new Cabinet that is both inclusive and highly qualified.

PS Omollo was the inaugural Luo personality in President William Ruto’s administration.

In the past two years, he has managed to solidify his Position in the Government as the most Powerful Permanent Secretary.

Simply said, every region needs a Raymond Omollo, a man whose presence in high places significantly enhances the prospects of other qualified people from his region up there.
