A Meru-based Pastor in David Owuor’s Church has warned Kenyans against falling prey to the schemes of the self proclaimed Prophet, the leader of Repentance and Holiness Ministry.
An Overseer of several churches in Meru who has worked in the prophet’s ministry for over 14 years, Pastor David Kobia says he decided to leave after witnessing several strange deaths and fake miracles in the prophet’s ministry.
According to Pastor Kobia, many patients have died after the prophet declared them healed, and advised them to abandon medication.
“The cult is worse than Mackenzie. Only that the leader is smart, corrupt and politically connected.” says Pastor Kobia.
He says the ‘prophet’ works with a team of doctors, clinical officers and nurses who are readily available to give testimonies about the fake miracles. These testimonies are documented in long Videos that are shared in the Repentance and Holiness Ministry YouTube Channel.
Pastor Kobia cites the recent death of Faith Wanjiku, a 10 year old girl from Murang’a who was ‘healed’ by the self styled prophet as one that should awaken the authorities.
Faith was buried at Kamahuha in Murang’a on Good Friday, after losing a battle to Leukemia, the same disease Prophet Owuor healed.
“These doctors in Owuor’s ministry confirmed that the girl was healed, withdrew her from medication and created a 2-hours YouTube Video about the fake healing miracle. Now they have deleted the Video after her death. A real cult.”
Among the prophet’s team of doctors is Dr. Toromo Kochei, a Director of Medical Services based in Nakuru. Also a Bishop in the prophet’s ministry. He also testified about a ‘resurrection miracle’ of one Mama Rosa, a woman from West Pokot who died a few months later.
Others include Dr. Aaron Langat (an oncologist based at Tenwek Mission Hospital), Dr. Kennedy Otieno (a Medical Registrar at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital) and Dr. Vera Alazia (a Medical Registrar at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi).
Pastor Kobia says the prophet is ‘well connected’, with several members in the Police and a few politicians being members of the ministry.
“I have written an email to the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua. I hope he will read the email and go after the rogue doctors perpetrating these atrocities.” Pastor Kobia says.
“The prophet ordered all his churches in Meru to put on sackcloth after I decided to expose his dirty tricks. We have carried dead bodies from his meetings and we were warned never to tell anyone. A lot happens in these cults that needs to be exposed for appropriate action by the authorities.” He says.
